ANNOUNCEMENTS May 5, 2008 - Steve does it again! As of this afternoon, Steve Adamczak joined the exalted ranks of those who hold a Private Pilot certification by passing a flawless checkride! As expected, Steve said he was plenty nervous beforehand, but after a few minutes talking with the examiner he felt like he was just having a flying chat with a buddy out in his hangar. After passing the oral exam without missing a beat, Steve and the examiner hopped in the plane for the checkride. Steve performed so well that they only used .8 hours on the meter from start to finish! This is a big day in any pilot's life and flying career, so please take the opportunity to offer him your congratulations. April 15, 2008 - Changes to Sport Pilot rule The FAA is proposing 22 changes to the Sport Pilot rule under which many of us fly. Click here for a synopsis of the proposed changes. April 4, 2008 - Steve Adamczak struts his stuff! Steve has been working lately on obtaining his Private Pilot certificate. As you know, this requires the student to take and pass an exhaustive written exam covering all aspects of flight, mechanics, airspace, and regulations. Steve recently passed his written test with a whopping score of 97! Achieving this near-perfect score is an amazing accomplishment. Please join GTUF in congratulating him on this victory. With a little luck regarding the weather, he expects to complete his checkride in the next few weeks. Go get 'em, Steve! March 26, 2008 Due to liability concerns resulting from a lawsuit, the Beck family has regretfully decided to cancel the annual Father's Day Fly-In at their Cider Mill in St Johns. Please note that the runway is still open and all safe pilots are still welcome to fly in and enjoy the food at other times as usual. February 27, 2008 - Passing of a Friend One of our long-time members, Tony Heinrich, passed away a few days ago, after losing a short battle with pneumonia. He was 77 at the time. Thought not a flyer, Tony was a faithful supporter of our group who attended nearly every meeting and most of our events. His love for our sport was well-known and his gentle humor will be missed. Happy Landings, Tony!
